Dates to Remember

Ted Sautter, fair president, who is a 12-year member of the board, is also related to fair royalty: His wife, Katie, was the 2008 Senior Fair Queen.

He's probably best known for running Sautter's Floral & Greenhouses on Toledo Road in Elkhart.

The 2010 Fair is scheduled for July 23-31.

Connie Richmond, manager of the Sautter's Floral Shop, invites all Michiana flower lovers to come by the Floral Shop with their flower needs for special events or to say something special to a family member or friend Come by and meet Connie and the floral shop staff.

LET’S GET LUCKY…with LUCKY BAMBOO!

Just recently a customer brought a “lucky bamboo” plant into the shop for my inspection and tips for its care. It was clearly failing and in need of being rescued. That said, it just needed some simple cultural adjustments. My customer had repotted it in some gravel and soil without any type of drainage. It was droopy and had yellow leaves. I repotted it again in a vase with river rock and fresh water about an inch from the bottom of the canes and sent it on its way.
