Blooms, Buds, and Beyond

            Autumn is almost upon us.  It is without a doubt one of our most spectacular seasons, from the vibrant array of colors to the feel of the crisp fall air.  Along with Christmas, it can be a wonderfully fun time to decorate your home and yard.

            For your yard there is an abundance of colors and varieties of garden mums to choose from to add spice to your landscape.  Golden yellows, bright oranges, rusty earth tones, rich purples, and deep burgundy will create a colorful palette.  Cushion mums make a nice little pillow effect tucked around your yard where your annuals or perennials have ceased to bloom.  Daisy mums are also available for a fanciful feel.  I always line the steps to my front door with a colorful assortment of mums and fall asters.  I have used the same half-peck apple baskets year after year.  The more stained and mossy they are, all the better.  I fill my fountain, after winterizing, with a large mum for added color in my landscaping and then I don’t feel like summer is over looking at the empty fountain!  (It’s a mind thing for me but it works!)

            Cornstalks tied with raffia, bales of straw piled with pumpkins and gourds, multi-colored preserved leaves tucked throughout add to the look of a perfect fall harvest.  Mmmm!  You can start finding these items in September and enjoy them well into November.  If your schedule doesn’t permit, just call us at 1-574-293-5584 or e-mail me tracy@sautters.net , and we can create it for you.

            Indoors, a small pie pumpkin filled with long lasting flowers such as daisies, carnations, and mini Viking sunflowers is a fun addition to your dining table and will last quite a while.  A colorful fall wreath on your front is a perfect way to say “Welcome!” to your guest.

            And last but certainly not least …… candles add that warm glow to your home.  Scented candles in fall tones add color and fill the air with wonderful fall aromas.  Soy wax candles are always a good choice.  We stock Root Candles; they are a high quality soy wax that does not put off soot which can discolor your home and furnishings.  Some great fall scents are Pumpkin Spice, Mulled Cider, Cinnamon Buns, and Chocó lateness. (Your guests will swear you are baking yummy confections!) These are just a few of the scents available.  Stop in and Breathe Deeply!
