FLOWERS WITH A SUNSHINE SMILE…
Simply stated, I love sunflowers. Some
folks think they are a common garden flower, something to be
entered into the tallest flower competition at the county fair.
I agree they may not be the most elegant, they may not symbolize
love or have any fancy connotation assigned to them, but I
straight up love them just the same.
I love them for their color, strong
character displayed by their thick stems, and they can be
equally lovely as any bouquet of flowers in your home.
If you cut sunflowers for an arrangement,
or order them from your favorite florist you’ll want to give the
bottoms a fresh cut before placing them in water. They drink up
a lot of water so a large container with a little weight to it
will work best. Be sure to add floral fresh to the water, and
place them so only a few inches of stem show above the vase.
Sunflowers are becoming increasingly
popular and are available in as many as 70 different varieties!
They range from a creamy white with a chocolate center to yellow
with an orange hue. They are generally available year round but
the summer months produce the nicest and largest flowers. So,
share my love of these beautiful flowers and add a few sunshine
smiles to your fall décor…you’ll be glad you did!
