Do Flowers Really
Talk???
We all know how colorful, fragrant and
downright lovely flowers are, but did you know they can talk
too…?
Well, you can’t really have a conversation
with them, but you can speak your feelings through
them---through the language of flowers.
In olden days, a particular type or color
of flower would be sent to someone because that color or type of
flower signified a feeling, or expressed an emotion.
For
example, a red rose symbolizes love, passion, respect, courage,
I love you, beauty, pure and lovely and prosperity.
A lavender rose signifies love at first
sight, enchantment.
Orchids send the feeling of rare beauty,
love, refinement, beautiful lady. Lavender represents
devotion. An orange lily…flame, I burn for you!
Bells
of Ireland: Good luck
Bird of Paradise: Magnificence
There are too many to list of course. Along
with special meaning attached to certain flowers, wedding
anniversary dates are often celebrated with a certain flower.
For example:
1St. Anniversary: Pansy
5th: Daisy
10th: Daffodil
20th: Day lily
25th: Iris
50th: Violet
Next time you send flowers, you may truly
say how you feel through the language of flowers. If you need a
few suggestions, I’m sure we can give a little guidance.
That’s it for now…I’ll just send you a
virtual cyclamen. It’s meaning?
“Good bye” of course!
